Horseshoe Bay Memorial Association and Mausoleum

The Mausoleum is located in the Eileen M. Hurd Nature Preserve along the south side of Horseshoe Creek.  This property was deeded to the Horseshoe Bay Property Owners' Association, Inc. as a nature park to be preserved in its natural state for the benefit of present and future property owners. A nature trail was constructed in 1990. The Preserve was subsequently deeded to the City of Horseshoe Bay in 2013. The existing Mausoleum remains deeded to the Memorial Association along with necessary easements and access paths.

The access road to the Park and Mausoleum is located between Horseshoe Bay and Horseshoe Bay South off Mountain Dew and may be visited daily during daylight hours by property owners and their guests. A set of rules and regulations for visitors to the Mausoleum was established by the property donors.  Click here to review the code of conduct for visitors and employees.  Click here for a map to the Mausoleum.

In 1989, the generosity of two Horseshoe Bay families resolved an ongoing issue when one donated the required land and the other provided for a long-term no-interest loan to construct a Mausoleum in Horseshoe Bay with a capacity of 72 crypts and 48 niches. Horseshoe Bay Property Owners' Association, Inc. sponsored the creation of the Horseshoe Bay Memorial Association, Inc., a Texas non-profit corporation.

In September 1989 all property owners were offered an opportunity to purchase crypts or niches. The response was immediate and approximately one-third of the spaces were sold.  In 2003, another 80 niches were constructed on the East side of the structures.
At the Annual Meeting of the Horseshoe Bay Memorial Association in 2013, the Board of Directors announced the expansion of the Mausoleum.

In 2016, a North Addition of 64 niches was completed.  As of February, 2017, there are 27 niches and 5 crypts still available.

The purchase of a niche or crypt is open to all City of Horseshoe Bay property owners.  Members of other POAs are required to provide a letter that they are members in good standing with their POA.
